SCX Special Projects has achieved a score of 100% following the AWE QC1 manufacturing audit. The Nuclear Industry-recognised manufacturing standard allows SCX Special Projects to manufacture and supply Nuclear Safety Class 1 Cranes and handling solutions: the highest-integrity class of lifting equipment in the safety-critical Nuclear Industry.
A score of 85% is required to pass the audit, but by achieving a full 100%, SCX Special Projects have demonstrated a much greater level of assurance to AWE in their capability to manufacture and supply Nuclear Class 1 Cranes and lifting equipment.
The score and accreditation was awarded to SCX Special Projects at the beginning of February 2015 following a thorough audit and 12 months of preparing and developing the appropriate resources, including systems, procedures, SQEPs (Suitably Qualified & Experienced Persons), and the documentation to demonstrate these capabilities.
John Hill, SCX Special Projects’ Head of Projects, said: “Achieving this status will open up many new opportunities for SCX in the Nuclear Industry; in fact we’ve already had a number of enquiries as a result of it. However, this is not just simply to score a tick in a box; we now have to implement, maintain and improve these processes and procedures to ensure that we continue to provide a first class, high integrity service to AWE and all our other clients.”
