SCX Special Projects, the bespoke precision engineering arm of SCX that built the retractable roof at Wimbledon, is expanding due to unprecedented demand. Recent growth means that the company is creating more engineering jobs in Sheffield.
The steady and continuous growth that SCX Special Projects has enjoyed over the last four years has accelerated recently, thanks to significant wins in the stadia, nuclear, and defence sectors.
As a result, the electrical, control & instrumentation (EC&I) department of SCX Special Projects requires a fresh intake of experienced engineers.
The EC&I team plays a vital role in ensuring the precision, reliability and safety of the handling solutions designed by SCX Special Projects. Expansion means that the team has vacancies for hardware and software design engineers, plus roles for experienced safety engineers.
Today, SCX Special Projects is self-supporting in expert sectors such as defence and nuclear, based on the wealth of experience that the business has established. This means it can now offer a full ‘cradle to grave’ range of EC&I consultative, design, engineering, manufacturing and maintenance services.
Nigel Montgomery, Controls Director at SCX Special Projects, joined the business in 2012 and has seen his team grow over the years, both in numbers and in expertise. Nigel adds:
“SCX Special Projects is growing at its fastest rate ever and this creates demand for the very best engineering talent. Our doors are always open to EC&I engineers looking to work on the kinds of innovative and complex solutions that we deliver. Our work demands levels of safety, reliability and performance rarely seen in industry, and we need engineers equal to the challenge.”
